Staying at Caldera Springs, near Sunriver

Caldera Springs is a small resort community just south of Sunriver in Central Oregon, about twenty-five minutes from Bend. It has its own pool complex, tennis and pickleball courts, a gym and nearly nine miles of paths, all inside the community.

Our house is in the middle of it, directly across from the courts and a short walk from Quarry Pool. It sleeps ten, and most of the families who stay are travelling with three generations.

Across the year

What each season is actually like here, including the quiet ones.

Summer

The busiest season and the one the community is built for. Quarry Pool, the courts, the paths and Obsidian Lake are all a short walk or ride away, and the house comes with six bikes and two kayaks.

Autumn

Warm days, cold nights and far fewer people. Smith Rock and the Cascade Lakes are at their best, and rates drop noticeably once the school holidays end.

Winter

Mt. Bachelor is about thirty minutes away and this becomes a ski house. There is room for a group to spread out and dry off, and the hot tub earns its keep. Crater Lake is spectacular in winter but access is limited.

Spring

The quietest stretch. Good for a family that wants the pool and the paths without the summer crowds, and the drive up to Bend is easy again.

Very friendly & responsive host. Home is geared for families. Great location. Love to be able to bike everywhere…barely used our rental car.

Stayed here with a couple of families and we absolutely loved it. The proximity to the pool made it easy to get our crew of little ones over there. We utilized nearly every amenity in the house - Cornhole, ping pong, pickleball, etc. Would definitely stay here again.

Questions about Caldera Springs

Is Caldera Springs the same as Sunriver?

No. Caldera Springs is its own community just to the south, with its own pool, courts, gym and paths. Sunriver Resort is separate, with its own membership, and our rental does not include access to it. Sunriver Village is about ten minutes away by car.

How far is Caldera Springs from Bend?

About twenty-five minutes to downtown Bend, and about forty-five minutes to Redmond airport. Mt. Bachelor is about thirty minutes.

Which amenities come with the house?

Quarry Pool and Fitness Center, the tennis and pickleball courts and the nearly nine miles of paths inside Caldera Springs are included with the house. Access reserved for owners and guests who book through Sunriver Resort Vacation Properties is not included: Forest House and its pools, lazy river, waterslide, fitness center and bowling; Caldera Links golf; equipment from The Outpost; and Sunriver Resort benefits such as The Cove, Crosswater and other resort golf, the resort spa and fitness center, resort pickleball courts, resort transportation, concierge service, the Mt. Bachelor shuttle and resort discounts.

Is it a good base for Mt. Bachelor?

It works well. The mountain is about thirty minutes away and the house has the space for a group coming back off the hill. Winter is quieter here than summer and the rates reflect that.
